Our Neighbouring Wine Farms

We are blessed to be situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands, with so many impressive wine farms to choose from. Yet, you do not need to venture far to raise your glass, these are some of our favourites and we are lucky to have them so close.

Just a short walk down our private road, this farm was established in 1692 and lies in its own self-contained valley where nature thrives. Hartenberg’s wine maker, Carl Schultz, has been widely regarded as one of South Africa’s leading producers of Shiraz for almost 40 years. Their key wines include Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and our personal favourite; Riesling. As well as wine tasting you can join Hartenberg for lunch, picnics and bird watching.

Simonsig is an important wine estate in the history of the Stellenbosch wine region. The late Frans Malan introduced South Africa’s first sparkling wine using the Methode Cap Classique, and he co-founded the thriving Stellenbosch Wine Route. Visit their elegant tasting room and try their much loved Kaapse Vonkel Brut/ Brut Rose, or eat at Cuvee Restaurant with uninterrupted views of the majestic Simonsberg Mountain.

Beyerskloof’s passion is the only indigenous South African grape variety; Pinotage. They are globally known for their Pinotage wines which they mature in new French oak barriques. Their restaurant Red Leaf Bistro has stunning views across the Boland vineyards, make sure you try their yummy signature dish, the Pinotage burger!

If you fancy a warm and traditional farm with some of South Africa’s best Pinotage then Bellevue is for you. When you visit you will notice the restored Cape Dutch homestead, first built in 1803 it has been declared a national monument. You can enjoy riding horses on the farm, and some of their wines are named after their horses. We love their unusual yet delicious woodfired pizza and wine pairing!

French-owned L’Avenir describes itself as ‘distinctly South African with a touch of French flair’, only established in 1992 they have quickly risen to an iconic status. They focus on South Africa’s signature varieties Chenin Blanc and Pinotage, for which they have won numerous awards both locally and internationally. Relax and enjoy their wine in a tranquil and beautiful countryside setting.

We hope you enjoy these wine farms as much as we do!
